A Millsboro man faces charges after police say he stabbed another man in the Wendy’s parking lot on Route 1.
A 38-year-old man was in a car at 3:32 p.m. when he was approached by Kevin Clary, 36, of Millsboro, who was inside the Wendy’s but came out making statements about killing the 38-year-old, police said.
Police said Clary opened the victim’s car door, demanded money from him, and repeatedly jabbed at him with a knife while making statements about killing him. The victim was able to close his door to stop Clary’s assault; at which point, police said, Clary began kicking the door until the victim’s girlfriend returned to the car and drove to a nearby business where they reported the incident to police.
The victim was taken to an area hospital by ambulance for his injury. Responding troopers located Clary near a wooded area on Route 1 and took him into custody without incident.
Clary was taken to Troop 7 and charged with felony attempted first-degree robbery, felony first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and other charges.
Clary was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $64,300 cash bond.
