Gallery One announced its new show, Nature’s Whisper, will be on display to the public from Wednesday, May 7 through Tuesday, June 3, at 32 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View.

W. Scott Broadfoot’s inspiration for his exquisite oil painting, “White Roses,” is this passage that beautifully articulates the spirit of this month’s theme at Gallery One: “Listen closely – nature’s quiet voice urges us to cherish its brief appearance. It murmurs of time’s swift passage. Every breath of the wild reminds us we’re alive, but only for a short moment of time.” Artist Joyce Condry shares Broadfoot’s sensitivity to ephemeral nature in her acrylic painting, “Cherry Blossom.”

Ed Lewandowski’s oil painting “Sequel” pays homage to the eloquence of a salt marsh at twilight. The whisper of nature through the landscape appears in Leslie McCaskill’s acrylic, “Spring on Silver Lake,” Cindy Beyer’s acrylic, “Whisper Don’t Whistle,” and “Soft Winds Blow,” an acrylic by Dale Sheldon.

In “Sintra Rooftop,” a pastel by Laura Hickman, the natural element of wind whispers through the architecture. Eileen Olson in her oil, “Crimson Sky,” and Laurie Fields in her mixed-media painting, “Geologic,” subtly evoke the spirit and feeling of nature.

Just in time to welcome spring, Gallery One is sponsoring a bus trip Tuesday, May 13, to visit the exhibition Timeless Mucha: The Magic of Line at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. This is the first stop for a major North American retrospective of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, a key contributor to the Art Nouveau movement.
