UPDATE: The advisory for the main beach at Cape Henlopen State.Park was lifted at 5:30 p.m., July 30. The Deauville Beach advisory was lifted July 31.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control issued water advisories July 29, for the main beach at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes and Deauville Beach in Rehoboth Beach.

Advisories are issued due to fecal indicator bacteria that tested above recreational water quality standard. DNREC says the higher levels were found during routine sampling.

The advisories say the highest risk of illness is most significant for people with certain medical conditions or compromised immune systems.

DNREC said additional samples have been taken, and the advisories will be lifted once bacteria levels are below standard.
