Dewey leaders set 2-foot freeboard requirement

Despite the unanimous recommendation of the planning and zoning commission and one leader’s objection, Dewey Beach commissioners voted 4-1 Oct. 18, to set a 2-foot freeboard requirement rather than the proposed 3-foot minimum for structures in a FEMA-designated flood zone. After less than one year, Baird Mandalas Brockstedt & Federico attorney Alex Burns is no longer the city solicitor for Rehoboth Beach. The move marks the end of a nearly two-decade run of the law firm representing the city. Rehoboth Avenue milling to begin Nov. 5 ecorcoran Mon, 10/28/2024 - 13:34 Milling will begin on Rehoboth Avenue at 8 pm Tuesday, November 5. Starting November 6, milling and paving will take place from 6 pm to 6 am Sunday evening through Friday morning. The first area for milling work is expected to be between 2nd Street and the boardwalk, initially heading east from 2nd street and then back west from the boardwalk.
