One person was found dead in an Oak Orchard townhome that caught fire Dec. 11, causing an estimated $350,000 in damages, according to state fire marshals.
The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. in the 31000 block of Crepe Myrtle Drive in Gull Point, and firefighters with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. and others found heavy flames coming from a townhouse unit, said John Galaska, chief deputy fire marshal.
The house was occupied at the time of the fire, Galaska said, and firefighters found a deceased person inside the home. The body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and cause of death. There were no other reported injuries, he said.
Galaska said the origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
