A Maryland woman was injured Aug. 30 after police say she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 1 in Dewey Beach.
The crash happened at 7:20 p.m. when the woman, 28, was crossing the roadway near Dagsworthy Avenue. Police said the woman was crossing in a crosswalk with fully operational lights when she was hit while walking westbound on the outside lane of the northbound roadway. Police said the driver of a Cadillac Escalade from Alexandria, Va., stayed on the scene following the crash.
The woman was conscious, police said, but was taken to Beebe Healthcare for nonlife-threatening injuries.
The driver was given multiple traffic summons and released.
