Radio Rehoboth
A new traffic signal will soon be added to the intersection of Route 1 and Holland Glade Road near the Tanger Outlets outside Rehoboth Beach. Currently, Holland Glade Road ends at Route 1, with no southbound access. When complete, motorists on Holland Glade Road will be able to cross the northbound lanes to drive south. There will be left, through and right turn lanes on all four legs of the intersection. The new intersection will allow for southbound Route 1 traffic to turn left onto Holland Glade Road, which will likely alleviate backups caused by motorists making U-turns at the intersection of Route 1 and Shuttle Road.
A HAWK pedestrian signal was installed at the intersection in 2015 to provide safe access to people who wanted to cross the busy highway. That will be removed as part of the project.
A chain-linkd fence has been installed in the IHOP parking lot. Drivers may no longer cut through the IHOP parking lot to get to Tanger Outlets Bayside.
DelDOT says the light is expected to be operational by Memorial Day 2024.
