The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater, starting Friday, March 1, will present “The Peasants” and “The Taste of Things.”

A beautifully filmed drama unfolding a fast-paced mix of love, lust and revenge, “The Peasants” tells the story of Jagna, a young woman determined to forge her own path within the confines of a late 19th century Polish village. The hotbed of gossip and ongoing feuds involves both rich and poor residents, with pride in their land, adherence to colorful traditions and a deep-rooted patriarchy. When Jagna finds herself caught between the conflicting desires of the village’s richest farmer, his eldest son and other leading men of the community, her resistance puts her on a tragic collision course with the community around her.

“The Taste of Things” is a passionate romantic drama about two middle-aged people who are in a long-term relationship. Esteemed cook Eugenie (Juliette Binoche) and her boss, fine gourmet Dodin (Benoît Magimel), grow fond of one another over the course of 20 years. Their romance gives rise to dishes that impress even the world’s most illustrious chefs. When Dodin is faced with Eugenie’s reluctance to commit, he begins to cook for her.

Admission is $9 for film society members, $11.50 for general public and $5 for students, with student tickets only available at the box office.

For all screening times and dates, and to purchase tickets, go to rehobothfilm.com or visit the box office from 12 to 8 p.m., Wednesday to Friday.
